SNS turned heads at NAB 2022 with the release of EVO OS v.7.0, two NAB Show Product of the Year awards, and eye-catching cloud workflows.
Thousands of broadcasters and post-production professionals converged on Las Vegas last month like it was 2019. Well, kind of. NAB 2022 drew a bit more than half of the previous show’s attendance, but those who journeyed to Sin City were rewarded with an immersive experience not to be soon forgotten.
For those who missed NAB’s big comeback, or who want to relive it in all its glory, here are some key takeaways from SNS at NAB 2022.
And the award goes to…
The NAB Show Product of the Year awards highlight the best and brightest technological innovations in the broadcast, media, and entertainment industry. Breakthrough products were recognized in 15 categories from leading manufacturers like ARRI, Vizrt Group, SNS, LiveU, LucidLink, and more.
A select few technologies won across multiple categories, like the EVO Suite, which won in cloud computing and storage as well as in remote production.
The EVO Suite is the intelligent collection of software tools that comes included as part of the EVO shared storage solution. It improves creative workflow for team members working both in the studio and remotely with powerful and easy-to-use tools for media asset management, remote editing, automations, cloud workflows, and more.

EVO OS v.7.0
SNS debuted EVO OS v.7.0 to an incredible reception at NAB 2022. EVO users seeing the newest version for the first time on the show floor sang its praises all week long, boasting its sleek design, simple navigation, and overall user experience.
Here’s what people were saying.
“The new EVO interface is beautiful, intuitive, and incredibly easy to use.”
“I love the new navigation pane and that I can pin my favorite shortcuts right where I want them.”
“It’s the best thing I have ever seen. It’s going to be a game changer.”
The latest EVO release packs a punch when it comes to new features as well. The new system enables federated management, a major development for users running multi-EVO environments. Admins can now manage multiple EVO OS v.7.0 servers from a single interface—a central location to monitor and manage storage and users, track uptime and CPUs, and do what they need to more conveniently administer multiple systems.
Users will gain better insight and peace of mind with user auditing, folder-level permissions, HTTPS/SSL support, and more security and administration features built into the latest EVO OS. The system’s new architecture also supports language localization and opens a world of possibilities for future development and integrations.

More news from NAB 2022
In addition to the new EVO release, SNS announced expanded connectivity options up to 100GbE are now available on new EVO orders. EVO’s impressively high performance got a boost, too, and additional drive sizes now make EVO’s storage capacity even more scalable. While these performance, capacity, and connectivity announcements were exciting, the new software and workflow elements stole the show.
SNS previewed new NDI functionality at NAB 2022, a feature only available for NRS (NewTek Remote Storage—Powered by SNS). Guests raved over the ability to record multiple NDI sources directly to NRS, and how simple it was to manage recordings in the new interface. SNS demonstrated this feature live at NAB 2022 using NDI5, another NAB Show Product of the Year award winner.
Remote production and the cloud
Content creators working on-premise, remotely, or across multiple locations continue to prioritize remote production and remote editing in their creative workflow. Under the umbrella of remote production, one trend stood out above the rest: the cloud.
Camera to cloud, NLE to cloud, backup to cloud, MAM in the cloud—everyone was talking about the cloud at NAB. And rightfully so. The cloud plays a huge role in post-production and broadcast workflows, especially when it comes to remote production. Knowing where the cloud adds the most value to your workflow can help creative teams select the right mix of in-studio and cloud-based technologies.
SNS Director of Sales Steve McKenna emphasized the importance of this balance in his presentation Create Your Best Work Anywhere: Innovative Solutions for On-premise, Remote, and Hybrid Cloud Workflows. He said: “When you’re storing dozens or hundreds of terabytes of media, a hybrid approach makes more sense than working 100% in the cloud. With a hybrid approach, you can have an on-prem server purpose-built for media storage and a cost-effective cloud solution for backup, file sharing, and that all-important remote access component.”
EVO’s software toolset offers a seamless solution for remote production and hybrid cloud workflows. Learn more about remote editing with EVO and Nomad and how SNS Cloud VPN supports remote video production.
